Your customers are the lifeblood of your business and without them, you won’t make any money and you won’t be able to grow – you won’t even be able to continue. That’s why it’s so important to make a good impression on them and ensure you look after them throughout the buying process.
It could be as simple as greeting them at the door or giving them some free advice over the phone or at your shop counter. How you dress plays a big part in how people see your business. If you always wear jeans and a t-shirt, no matter how smart or how ‘designer’ they might be, you will always look less professional than someone who wears a smart suit. It’s true that fashions are changing, and that people are a lot more casual even when they are at work but wearing something smart will not only give you that professional look, it will also make you stand out from the crowd.
If you have staff, you should make sure they dress appropriately as well. Create a dress code for the business so everyone knows what is and isn’t acceptable. Depending on the business you are running, you might even have a uniform or branded clothing for staff to wear.
